Artificial intelligence is no longer limited to producing text or images. The next step is to connect models to tools, data and procedures so that they can carry out a sequence of actions under human supervision.
From assistants to agents
An assistant responds to a request. An agent breaks down an objective, selects tools and checks the task’s progress. This development can speed up documentary research, content preparation and the processing of repetitive requests.
The key change is therefore not simply the model’s power, but its integration into a working process. Permissions, approvals and traceability are becoming just as important as the quality of the response.
Smaller, specialised models
Not every task requires a gigantic model. Compact, specialised models—sometimes running directly on a device—can reduce costs, latency and data exposure.
Depending on the task, a local model can handle some routine operations while a remote service addresses more complex requests. The choice depends on hardware, confidentiality and measured performance.
What to watch
Reliability remains the decisive issue. A convincing answer can be false, incomplete or based on an outdated source. Serious organisations therefore use evaluations, activity logs and human approval for sensitive decisions.
AI becomes genuinely useful when it is assigned a precise, measurable and reversible role. The most credible progress will improve people’s work without concealing its limits.
