AI helps security teams detect anomalies and process large numbers of signals. It also gives attackers new ways to automate fraud and produce deceptive content.
Detect faster
Tools can correlate scattered events, classify alerts and identify unusual behaviour. They therefore help analysts focus their attention on the most urgent incidents.
An automated alert is not proof, however. Without context, a system can produce many false positives or fail to recognise a new attack.
More convincing attacks
Text, voice and image generation makes it easier to create personalised fraudulent messages. Attackers can adapt their approach to a company or an individual more quickly.
Traditional protections remain essential: strong authentication, updates, backups, access controls and verification through a second channel.
The models must also be secured
An AI system can be manipulated through malicious data, hidden instructions or excessive access to company tools. Its security must be considered from the design stage.
Restricting permissions, logging actions and testing abuse scenarios reduce the risk of an assistant becoming an additional point of entry.
